History

St. David's School has sustained a tradition
of academic excellence while experiencing rapid growth and administrative
transitions during the past 30 years.
St. David's was founded in 1972 as Hale High School and graduated its first class
in 1973. In the fall of 1990, St. Timothy's Middle School, grades 6-8 was added
to the existing White Oak Road campus. By the end of the school year, the Board
of Trustees voted to combine Hale High School and St. Timothy's Middle School resulting
in the emergence of St. Timothy's-Hale School. With the addition of a new fifth
and sixth grade center in 1994, the school encompassed grades 5-12. In November
2002, the Board of Trustees voted to add grades K-4 for the fall of 2003. Starting
in the academic year 2003-2004, the school would offer a K-12 program and have the
official new name of St. David's School.
St. David's remains one of the most distinguished private college preparatory schools
in the Triangle area. Our graduates continue to be accepted at Princeton, Harvard,
University of Virginia, Duke, Davidson, UNC-Chapel Hill, NCSU, and other leading
universities.
