Facilities: Technology

St. David's Private SchoolSt. David's School recognizes the importance of technology in today's world, and we make every effort to improve the technical literacy of students and teachers. Technology is an integral part of the St. David's curriculum with weekly classes in grades K-6 that teach every student essential skills such as keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheets and presentation skills. Additional skills are integrated into the curriculums of other subject areas throughout all grade levels. Students desiring to further develop their technology skills may take elective courses in grades 7-12.

There are approximately 185 computers on the St. David's campus. This includes three computers in every Lower School classroom and at least one computer in every Middle and Upper School classroom. Computers are also located in two technology labs, one mobile laptop lab, and the library. Six servers and a fiber-optic backbone connecting buildings ensure stable operation.

St. David's School maintains licensing agreements that ensure the software your student uses matches what they will encounter in college and the workplace. New versions of operating systems and application software are generally implemented on campus within one to two years from their initial release (time is provided to ensure compatibility and avoid disruption of the school year). The school operates on a Microsoft Windows network that provides each student individual login accounts and networked storage space so they can access their personal files from any computer on campus. All students and staff agree to an acceptable use policy, and Internet usage is filtered and monitored.
