Welcome

Dear St. David's Parents & Students:
Exciting times are ahead for the St. David's Warriors with work already underway
toward our new gym. Summer has been busy in the athletic department with on-site
camps, planning for the fall season, coaching at team camps, and ordering required
equipment and team uniforms. We have also been working to move our sports and P.E.
equipment to a temporary, on-site storage facility and to make way for our modified
gym for the upcoming year.
We are taking all possible measures to ensure that the upcoming year for our P.E.
and sports programs proceeds as seamlessly as possible. In the midst of all this,
I am thrilled about what we will have in the end and what it will mean for our St.
David's family. I hope you are as well.
I am pleased to report that we have entered into a very beneficial relationship
with the Raleigh Racquet Club for our tennis training and competition needs. I will
be communicating our new arrangement with our tennis families, but I wanted to let
you all know of this very good news.
Along with new facilities, we are adding new people. It is with great pleasure that
I introduce Brooke Johnson, who has been hired as Assistant Girls' Varsity Basketball
Coach and JV Volleyball Coach. Brooke comes to us with several years of collegiate
coaching experience and an impressive basketball career at Parrot Academy and Peace
College . We also welcome Danielle Roland, our new Athletic Trainer/Health/PE Teacher,
who comes to us from Ravenscroft. Please join me in welcoming these two new members
of our team. And I know you will be as pleased as I am to have Michael Noto in a
new role at St. David's, as JV Boys' Soccer Coach. As well as teaching middle school
science, Michael has led our JV Girls' team the last two years, including in an
undefeated conference championship season last spring.
Some of our alumni-athletes were recognized by their collegiate teams this past
spring, including Kassia Shishkoff (Swimming, Northwestern), Sally White (Swimming,
West Point), Will Swearingen (Soccer, West Point), and Brythe Blankenship (Softball
Furman). We are honored to have St. David's so well represented by our graduates.
And several of our soccer players and Coach Cornejo are excitedly preparing for
their trip to Bolivia in a few weeks. Not only will our students participate in
some phenomenal soccer training, they will also round out this trip with important
mission work scheduled and coordinated by Coach Cornejo.
I look forward to seeing you soon as the Warriors begin their next, successful season.
As always, please call me if you have any questions.
Go Warriors!
